My top 3 hypnobirthing tips
As a mother of two I have used hypnobirthing for both of my birth experiences and can say without a doubt that my labours would have been very different without using these techniques.
I am a BIG advocate for hypnobirthing and would shout about it from the rooftops if I could…but I wouldn’t reach many ears that way haha so I am using my platform as a newborn and family photographer to spread the word.
I’m here to let you know that it IS possible to enjoy your birth or to at least have a confident and empowered experience, rather than fearful or traumatic. Using hypnobirthing will give you the knowledge, practical tools and support you need to have a positive birth experience, however you choose to bring your baby into the world.

For my second birth with my little boy Bowie who is now two, I used the Positive Birth Companies online course and would highly recommend this amazing course or using something similar. There are also lots of fab hypnobirthing books on the market too.
For me, being able to feel prepared and excited for my upcoming birth was a real game changer, so I wanted to share my top 3 tips. These are the skills or techniques which I found helped me the MOST during my pregnancies and labours.

My top 3 tips for hypnobirthing:
Number 1- Practice Deep Breathing: Focus on slow, deep breaths to promote relaxation and reduce tension during labor. The term ‘breathe your baby out’ might sound extremely hippy, but it really IS all about the breathing. The more relaxed your body is, the easier your labour will be.
Number 2- Calm your senses: Use lighting, sound and aromas to help keep you in a calm state of mind. Using low lighting, calming music and essential oils were a game changer for me.
Number 3- Affirmations: Use positive statements to reinforce confidence and trust in your body’s ability to birth. Repeat these affirmations to cultivate a positive mindset. One of my favourite affirmations to use was “I grew this baby, I can birth this baby”. It reminded me just how amazing and capable our bodies truly are.
“I grew this baby, I can birth this baby”
