Motherhood Photography Dorset: The Journey from Bump to Baby with the Lovely Cooper Family

There’s something profoundly magical about watching a family grow, from the quiet anticipation of pregnancy to the pure, unfiltered joy of holding a newborn in your arms. Recently, I had the privilege of documenting this journey for the Cooper family, and their story is one I’m excited to share.

Their story is extra special as it started all the way back in 2017, when I photographed their glorious wedding day by Bournemouth beach. And then continued over the years with numerous family sessions with their first son, Lucas.

To have clients that include me in so many huge milestones in their lives, is such a privilege xx

The Glow of Expectation

Our journey together continued, when Charli contacted me last Spring with the news she was expecting again and would love to book The Motherhood Collection.

We met on the beach in Sandbanks one summer evening, with their second little one on the way! As the sun dipped below the horizon, it created the most radiant, golden glow — the perfect backdrop for a sunset maternity session. This evening was made even more special with the presence of dad and an excited older brother, ready to welcome their newest family member.

The session began with soft, playful interactions as the family strolled through the sandy dunes. The tall golden grass caught the sun’s last rays, framing each moment in warmth.

Mum, glowing in a flowing neutral dress, meanwhile, big brother Lucas provided endless laughter, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his head near her belly with a heart full of curiosity and love.

As the sun melted into twilight, we captured some images in the softly splashing waves — a moment for mum to cherish her last few weeks with her first born, before becoming parents to two little boys xx

The Sweetest New Beginning

A few weeks later, I met the Cooper family again — this time in the quiet intimacy of their home, where baby Oscar had just arrived. We kept this session natural and gently posed — just the simple beauty of a family adjusting to their new normal.

There’s something magical about photographing families in their own space—the place where they feel most comfortable and connected. We began the session in their bedroom, filled with soft morning light streaming through the windows. The neutral tones of their decor provided a beautiful, calming backdrop that let their smiles and laughter take center stage.

Older brothers always bring energy and fun to a session, and Lucas was no exception! He showed me his favourite toys, raced around the kitchen, and had everyone giggling. His personality shone through in every frame—mischievous grins, belly laughs, and sweet moments with his mum and dad. A favourite moment was watching Lucas sweetly kiss and stroke Oscar’s head as Dad cuddled him in close.
